John Hancock’s Baby Mamma
So what if Micajah was telling the truth and he was the grandson of John Hancock?
It doesn’t seem likely.
But it’s possible. I could be like one of those descendents of Sally Hemmings, trying to get an invitation to the family picnics of Thomas Jefferson’s desdendants through his legitimate children. Not wanting to eat the picnic food particularly but trying to make a point. Hey, we belong here. When I was about 12, on a family summer road trip, we visited Monticello. I remember columns and a big house and a tour guide speaking respectfully.
But John Hancock left no legitimate children. His once-famous and very lavish Boston home no longer stands. The insurance company was named for him, and the 100-story-tall John Hancock Center in Chicago. Most people know about the huge signature. But there’s no Monticello or Mount Vernon. And no foundation or special library that I can find through a quick Google search.
One thing that does jump out on Google is this: “Welcome to the Hancock/Handcock Surname Y-DNA Testing Project.” Running across like a ticker-tape accouncement is a red streamer: NOTE: WE HAVE THE DNA OF JOHN HANCOCK, THE SIGNER OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.”

Boy you sure have been busy. My uncle is doing something similar – but we are not even remotely related to anyone of historical interest [that I know of.]
Michele, that’s because I have lost my mind. Read the two earlier posts.
